In today's big story, we're looking at the ultimatum Elon Musk gave Tesla's board amid a critical time for the company. The big storyElon's ultimatumREUTERS/Steve NesiusUltimatums rarely work in relationships, but what about between CEOs and the massive companies they run? Elon Musk is about to find out. Musk, who has roughly a 13% stake in the EV maker, said if his request isn't met, he'll "prefer to build products outside of Tesla." Meanwhile, Ross Gerber, a longtime Tesla bull, said it's "absurd" to think Musk doesn't already have control over Tesla and described his request as "blackmailing the Tesla shareholders."

Stokes, who last month reversed his retirement from ODI cricket, hammered a 124-ball 182 to record England's highest individual score in the 50-overs format, bettering Jason Roy's previous record of 180. "Coming back into the team after a while out, it's nice to come back and help the team," Stokes said. We weren't able to build partnerships," New Zealand captain Latham said. There's levels that we can keep achieving, there's more in the tank," England captain Buttler said. The series is crucial for both sides' preparations as they look ahead to next month's Cricket World Cup in India.

London CNN —An original black and white sketch of Winnie the Pooh and his good friend Piglet which languished for decades in a drawer is expected to fetch thousands when it goes under the hammer next month. According to Dominic Winter Auctioneers, which is handling the sale, the pen and ink drawing is the same as one of the final illustrations in A.A. Milne’s first book about Winnie the Pooh, published in 1926. The picture, the same as the final drawing in the first Winnie the Pooh book, languished for years in a drawer. In a press release issued by the auctioneers, Albury said the sketch is “more valuable than the majority of books on proud display in the fine [Christopher Foyle] library” – which are also available to buy. Christina Foyle was Christopher Foyle’s aunt, and daughter of bookshop founder William Foyle.

My focus this time out is on standard English rather than nonstandard English, since one of my recent books was about Black English. Although they are often presumed to be simpler — in a word, dumber — than standard English, the opposite is often true. One example I am thinking of is a relatively new and unheralded gender-neutral pronoun that has emerged in, of all places, Baltimore. Gender-neutral pronouns are a thorny topic in English. But in English, a truly accepted gender-neutral pronoun has been a holy grail for generations.

How to Store Your Bike Like a Professional

SVELTER STORAGE The Cycloc Solo ($100) can be mounted vertically or horizontally, freeing up useful floor space under your bike. Photo: CyclocAS AN avid cyclist and apartment dweller, I have nearly 20 years of experience balancing bikes on banisters and stacking them up against bookshelves. Two broad categories of bike racks eliminate the need for such awkward hacks: those that rest on the floor and those that must be mounted on the wall. For example, while a wall-mounted bike rack saves you floor space, an improperly installed one can rip right off the wall, taking plenty of plaster along for the ride. According to Robin Graven-Milne, owner-operator of repair shop Bike Plant in Brooklyn, N.Y., installation worries are the biggest hurdle people shopping for a mountable bike rack must overcome.
Amid this, Taiwan's defense ministry published a photo of a patch worn by fighter pilots. The patch depicts a cartoon Winnie the Pooh getting punched by a bear — a dig at Xi Jinping. Her visit stoked ire in Beijing, with China's defense ministry calling it "provocative." Beijing's defense ministry said the war games — dubbed "Joint Sword" — are meant to be a "stern warning" to Taiwan, which sharply criticized the exercises. #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and tasked CAP aircraft, Navy vessels, and land-based missile systems to respond these activities," Taiwan's defense ministry wrote in a statement posted to social media.

The patch shows an angry Formosan black bear holding Taiwan's flag and punching Winnie the Pooh, with the slogan "Scramble!" The endangered Formosan black bear is seen as a symbol of Taiwanese identity. China claims democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory and has not ruled out taking the island by force. While the Winnie the Pooh patch cannot be found on Chinese social media, Beijing has also been promoting videos and commentary about its drills around Taiwan.
HONG KONG, March 21 (Reuters) - The screening of "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey", a British slasher film due to be released in Hong Kong this week, has been cancelled after cinemas in the city declined to show it, its distributor said on Tuesday. These 30+ screens in Hong Kong are the only ones with such issues." Beijing imposed a national security law on Hong Kong in 2020 cracking down on dissent after the city was rocked by anti-government, pro-democracy protests a year earlier. Two films were dropped from Hong Kong's international film festival last year after failing to get approval from authorities. The cancellation comes as Hong Kong hosts the Art Basel contemporary art fair, with authorities eager to promote the city as a vibrant cultural hub.

CNN —A bird thought to be extinct for 140 years has been rediscovered in the forests of Papua New Guinea. Rediscovering the bird required an expedition team to spend a grueling month on Fergusson, a rugged island in the D’Entrecasteaux Archipelago off eastern Papua New Guinea where the bird was originally documented. The team consisted of local staff at the Papua New Guinea National Museum as well as international scientists from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the American Bird Conservancy. Many members of the community told the team that they hadn’t seen the black-naped pheasant-pigeon in decades, says the news release. So the expedition team placed a camera on a 3,200-foot high ridge near the Kwama River above Duda Ununa, according to the release.
